WELCOME TO THE MONADNOCK SUMMER LYCEUM

The Monadnock Summer Lyceum committee is pleased to announce its speakers for the 2024 season, our 55th since the Lyceum series was reconstituted in 1970. Explore the information provided below for descriptions of the presentations and brief biographies of the speakers. All presentations will take place in the historic Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Church where the first Lyceums were held in 1828. Live music begins at 10:30 a.m. on Lyceum Sundays and the speaker will be introduced at 11 a.m.

If you can’t come to the church in person, you can still participate from afar by watching the live stream we will provide of each talk and the music that precedes it. During the summer, come back to this page and click on the current speaker’s picture to join the broadcast. You can submit questions to the speaker through YouTube’s chat feature and they will be conveyed to the podium via the moderator.

If you missed a presentation, click on the speaker to view a recording. We have video recordings of all speakers back to the 2020 season and audio recordings dating to 2012. Click on “Past Speakers” in the Speakers menu at the top of this page to view the full set of recordings.

The Lyceum relies on the generosity of its sponsors and audience members to carry on its nearly 200-year-old tradition. If you would like to make a donation to the Lyceum, please click on the Donate button below. We greatly appreciate every donation.
